Dan Roth graduated from Camelback High School and Arizona State University before receiving his Juris Doctorate from the University of Arizona College of Law in 1966. He began his career in public service as an Arizona Assistant County Attorney, was later elected a Scottsdale Justice of the Peace, and served as Scottsdale’s Chief Magistrate before entering private practice.

He founded the Law Offices of Roth & Roth, held the Arizona Board–Certified Specialist in Criminal Law designation, and was known throughout the Arizona bar as a tenacious trial advocate. He and his son Michael practiced together for more than eighteen years. Outside the courtroom he was active in the Scottsdale Charros, the Scottsdale Rotary, and the Scottsdale Jaycees, and was named Outstanding Young Man of Maricopa County.
